Study Trips
When Territories Tell Stories and Teach
Study trips are a unique learning tool designed to explore gastronomic cultures and food systems through firsthand, immersive experiences. Activities unfold along the entire supply chain—production, transformation, distribution, and consumption—and include field visits, workshops, tastings, and meetings with local communities. Attention is given equally to small-scale producers and large industrial operations.
Students will have the chance to explore both artisanal and industrial sectors, appreciate rural and urban experiences, and discover traditions alongside innovations. This approach is designed to develop a critical, context-driven understanding of gastronomic cultures.
The program is designed to evolve constantly, taking place not only across Italy but also in international destinations. Teaching and logistics planning is managed by the Tutor Office staff, who support students throughout all activities.
An Experience That Goes Beyond the Trip
Mutual Exchange
At the heart of these educational journeys are the people and communities of the regions we visit—who share their stories with students, finding in this exchange a moment of recognition and appreciation for their knowledge and traditions.
Lasting Networks
UNISG builds lasting relationships with producers, communities, and industry players. Each educational journey strengthens a network of collaborations that extends far beyond the classroom.
A New Vision
By the end of the journey, students develop an independent ability to analyze gastronomic, cultural, and economic phenomena. The journey doesn't end upon return—it continues, through a new way of seeing.
Action Learning
Action learning activities are an integral part of the programme, offering direct contact with the reality of the agri-food sector. By going beyond the classroom, students meet professionals, observe food systems in real contexts and apply the knowledge they have acquired. These experiences strengthen critical thinking, collaborative skills and the preparation needed to competently address the challenges of the global food system.
